NZ fertility rate hits record low

Fertility rate news

New Zealand’s fertility rate has dropped to a record low of 1.56, staying below the replacement rate of 2.1 needed for population stability since 2013.

This decline mirrors a global trend in developed countries, with New Zealand’s average family sizes shrinking and childlessness rates increasing.

Despite international efforts to boost birth rates, such as those in Singapore, China, and South Korea, there is little evidence of effectiveness.

‘Experts’ told state-backed media outlet RNZ that New Zealand’s situation reflects broader changes, including women’s increased educational attainment and workforce participation, rising living and childcare costs, and growing concerns about climate change. This demographic shift is expected to age the population significantly, impacting the education system, labour force, and healthcare services.

Immigration has been identified by policy makers as a partial solution to these challenges, with New Zealand experiencing a notable population growth rate of 2.8 percent last year, primarily due to immigration.

  1. I don’t understand the problem here. Just get Beavis and Butt-Head to donate sperm and then we have the next Olympic athletes, the next Einstein, the next Monet, the next Mozart, the best engineers. Sounds like a plan! What can go wrong?

  2. It’s ok, we’ll just let in 170,000 or so immigrants a year to bring up the population.

As I asked one of the news media who reported on this, why didn’t they inquire as to the numbers of DNC procedures done over the same period. Has there been a noticeable increase of failed pregnancies?

Strange how “experts” say that increases in excess mortality are from population increase, ageing population and covid (but that still doesn’t account for half of the excess deaths), yet all those immigrants go through health assessments before being approved, so why would their part of population increase drive an increase in excess deaths?

  3. The thing is
How are these vaccines going to affect the newborn?
    Short and long term
    Incalculable damage has been done
Better no births than compromised for want of better words
This in our face criminality infesting our land needs to be elucidated and bought to justice

  4. I think the more accurate question should be why infertility rates are rising? It’s got nothing to do with the change of womens workplace roles. There’s so many couples out there struggling to conceive whereas a generation ago that wasn’t the case.
