Police did not attend call from concerned camper before landslip disaster

Police have confirmed they did not attend Mount Maunganui’s Beachside Holiday Park after receiving a 6.18am emergency call referencing disorder and a potential landslip, about three hours before a fatal collapse, because it was unclear whether any property damage had occurred.

A camper told state media she repeatedly raised concerns about visible slips and later saw a Tauranga City Council vehicle drive past the affected area before the deadly landslide struck at about 9.30am, killing six people.

The incident has prompted intense scrutiny of the early response by emergency services and the council, with conflicting accounts over notifications, an independent council review now underway, and Prime Minister Christopher Luxon signalling a strong case for a separate government inquiry to determine whether earlier evacuation or intervention could have prevented the tragedy.

  1. The NZ police rarely respond to anything in NZ. They are hopelessly inept. The young woman who was molested in her car at a service station waited two hours for help the other day is a prime example. There is a huge disconnect with the public.

    • However, if she were to have pulled a handgun and shot the molester, the cops couldn’t be there fast enough with over-reactions condusive to the global gun grab from law abiding citizens.
VOTE FOR THE NEW ZEALAND LOYAL PARTY later this year, and the right to self-defence via ‘Stand You Ground’ and ‘Castle Laws’ will come into full effect, as well as the Right to Self Defence using a firearm to do so!

  2. Liquor stores and convenience stores are constantly being robbed in the area in which I live.

The police will simply not attend if the loss is less than $500 simply providing an incident report number over then phone, so local business owners simply have to take it on the chin.

But if any of the staff dare to resist or dare to defend themselves against these petty thieves the police will arrive in an instant to charge them with assault.

This is a deliberate policy to make our communities unsafe so we end up begging the government for further restrictions on our freedoms, chief among them Digital ID.

  3. It is understandable and concerning the growing cabal of Kiwis who distrust NZ authorities.

The snowball of corruption is gathering pace, the young and clever are fleeing. NZ is in a downward spiral of falling life quality and a plummeting birth rate (Kiwis can’t afford kids).

Luxon promised he’d fix the joint and hes more than clever enough to know his ongoing support of the Aussie: banking, insurance, grocery, and energy cartels is f$%king the joint.

Millions of suffering Kiwis owe their ongoing daily struggle to your complete lack of lntegrity Mr Luxon.

Unfortunately Prof McCullough was right about you!

“Prof McCullough “exposed the links between the Big Banks, Supermarkets & Building Firms with our Minister of Finance and PM. It has all been too much for the establishment to bear.”
