Homicide investigation underway in Taranaki
A homicide investigation is underway in Taranaki after a man’s body was located outside at an Oaonui property today.
Emergency services were alerted at about 8.40am after a person arrived at the rural Kina Road property and found the man.
“While we are treating this death as suspicious, we are in the very early stages of understanding what has happened to our victim,” says Detective Inspector Brent Matuku.
The identity of the man is yet to be confirmed.
A forensic scene examination of the property has begun and a post mortem is expected to be carried out early this week.
Death following crash – Lake Road, Rotorua
A person has died after being injured in a crash on Lake Road, Rotorua last Wednesday (27 July).
The person was transported to hospital in a serious condition after their car collided with a tree at around 6.45am.
They passed away on 28 July.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
Name Release – fatal crash, West Plains, Southland
Police are now able to release the name of the woman who died following a crash in which her vehicle went into the Oreti River on Thursday 28 July.
She was 17-year-old Kaia Hamilton of Southland.
Police extend our condolences to her family and friends.
An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
