State of Emergency declared in Marlborough

A state of local emergency was declared on late last night 27 June 2025 for Marlborough’s Wairau-Awatere Ward after heavy rainfall compromised the stop bank at Spring Creek.

MetService severe weather warnings remain in effect across parts of both the North and South Islands. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, with further rainfall expected to impact already saturated areas.

  1. I think the insurance companies will widen their already no cover for home insurance in Marlborough. Don’t fall for the real estate flannel that you will find cover from brokers because once their bought up policies are gone, they are gone.
