Police have arrested an 18-year-old man following a series of overnight burglaries and vehicle break-ins in Cambridge.

Officers were alerted early this morning after multiple reports of cars being entered and property stolen during the night.

Police, assisted by a Dog Unit, attended several scenes, where a police dog tracked a scent that led officers to a man and items believed to be stolen. The teenager has been charged with burglary and unlawfully interfering with motor vehicles and is due to appear in Hamilton District Court on Friday, 30 January.

Police say further charges or arrests have not been ruled out. Residents are being urged to remain vigilant by locking vehicles and avoiding leaving valuables in plain sight, even when parked at home.
