
Two people have died and another remains missing following three separate water-related incidents across the country today.
In Akaroa, police were notified about 1.15pm after a person was pulled from the water by the Harbourmaster near Drummond Wharf. CPR was administered but the person could not be revived, and the area was cordoned off while emergency services responded.
In a separate incident in Lower Kaimai, emergency services were called about 2.55pm to a location off Poripori Road, where another person had been pulled from the water. Despite CPR being commenced, the person died at the scene.
Both deaths will be referred to the Coroner.
Meanwhile, a man is missing after a water incident in the Waikato River near Graham Island, where police were called about 3.30pm following reports of a struggling swimmer being swept downstream. Emergency services remain on scene continuing search efforts, with enquiries ongoing.
