WFHLAHAVQFCR5GGBNVZ5AGOILI

Westpac has become the first New Zealand bank to issue digital identification credentials under the Digital Identity Services Trust Framework.

The bank said business customers would soon be able to create digital IDs to verify details such as accounts with customers and reduce reliance on emailed documents and lower fraud risks.

Chief data, digital and AI officer Russell Jones said digital IDs could eventually expand to retail customers and be used for age verification, government services, utilities and travel.
