England and Scotland fans hoping to attend this summer’s World Cup face sharply inflated prices on FIFA’s official resale platform.
As of Tuesday, 6,135 tickets were listed across six group games involving the two home nations. FIFA is not currently selling tickets for these matches and has not confirmed if they are sold out, though it says more could be released in coming weeks.
Fans are left choosing between paying high resale prices or waiting. FIFA takes a 30% fee from each sale, while sellers set the prices after securing tickets in earlier ballots. There are 3,198 tickets listed for England’s Group L matches alone, where demand is high due to large ex-pat communities in the United States.
Supporters travelling to Dallas, Boston and New York face steep costs. The cheapest ticket for the Croatia opener is $898 (£628), more than three times the $265 (£201) face value. Limited category four tickets originally priced at $60 (£45) are listed for up to $2,300 (£1,748). Some tickets across categories are reaching as high as $17,250 (£13,110).
