Johnson strike secures Tottenham Hotspur Europa League triumph over Man United

Brennan Johnson etched his name into club history with the decisive goal as Tottenham defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the UEFA Europa League final in Bilbao, clinching their first European title in 41 years.

The Wales international scored three minutes before half-time, finishing a move set up by Pape Matar Sarr to give Ange Postecoglou’s side a famous win at San Mames Stadium.

Tottenham’s resolute defending, highlighted by a goal-line clearance from Micky van de Ven and crucial saves by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, helped them hold off a determined United in the second half.

Cristian Romero, captaining the side in Son Heung-Min’s absence, was named Player of the Match by UEFA. The victory not only capped a memorable European campaign but also secured the club a place in next season’s Champions League.
