Warriors overcome early setbacks to crush Raiders

Warriors v Raiders 2026

The New Zealand Warriors recovered from an early horror start to overpower the Canberra Raiders 40-6 after losing Kurt Capewell to a suspected torn calf in the warm-up and seeing Chanel Harris-Tavita knocked out early while attempting a tackle on Noah Martin.

The visitors struck first through Kaeo Weekes in the fourth minute, but the Warriors dominated from there, with Leka Halasima making a major impact after being promoted to the starting side, scoring two tries, breaking six tackles and running for 101 metres.

Tanah Boyd also starred in wet conditions with a long-range kicking display, two try assists and a try of his own, while Raiders captain Joseph Tapine endured a frustrating night, repeatedly clashing with referee Peter Gough before being placed on report late in the match for shoulder contact to the head of Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.
