Liam Lawson’s British Grand Prix ended in disaster on the first lap after contact with Esteban Ocon, who had been forced wide by Yuki Tsunoda, sent the New Zealander spinning off track at the fifth corner.
Despite trying to continue, damage to the car’s floor and suspension forced Lawson to retire, marking his fourth DNF of the season.
Teammate Isack Hadjar also failed to finish after a crash on lap 14. Meanwhile, Lando Norris claimed his first home victory at a wet and unpredictable Silverstone, leading McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri in a dominant 1-2.
Racing Bulls’ team principal Laurent Mekies remained upbeat, highlighting the car’s pace and the drivers’ safety, while Lawson looked ahead to redemption at the Belgian Grand Prix.
