New Zealand driver Liam Lawson continued his consistent start to the Formula One season with a composed drive to ninth at the Japanese Grand Prix, securing points for the second consecutive race after climbing from 14th on the grid.
Lawson gained early positions off the line, capitalised on a safety car triggered by Oliver Bearman’s crash, and executed a well-timed pit stop to hold his place in the top ten, finishing ahead of teammate Arvid Lindblad.
While his result dropped him to 10th overall in the standings, it reinforced his steady form following a seventh-place finish in China.
Up front, Kimi Antonelli claimed victory for Mercedes to become the youngest championship leader in Formula One history at 19, finishing well clear of Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc.
