Liam Lawson will start ninth at the Belgian Grand Prix after a standout qualifying performance at Spa-Francorchamps, where all four Red Bull-backed cars reached Q3 for the first time this season.
Following a 10th-place finish in the sprint race, Lawson delivered consistent pace across all qualifying rounds, ultimately clocking 1m 41.328s in Q3.
The Kiwi, who has a strong junior record at Spa, narrowly missed a higher grid spot by just fractions of a second and expressed frustration over a small mistake.
With rain forecast for Monday’s race and Lawson’s past Q3 appearances yielding points, he remains optimistic for a strong result. McLaren’s Lando Norris took pole ahead of teammate and current championship leader Oscar Piastri.
