The Queensland Reds reignited their Super Rugby Pacific campaign with a 31–14 bonus-point victory over the Highlanders at Suncorp Stadium, highlighted by a spectacular team try that will rank among the season’s best.
After an opening-round loss and a bye, the Reds combined sharp attacking flair with resolute defence to control the contest, racing to an early lead through Fraser McReight after a sweeping, multi-phase move sparked by Jock Campbell and Harry Wilson.
Although the Highlanders, fresh from upsetting the Crusaders, closed the margin to five points through captain Timoci Tavatavanawai’s influence, Queensland responded with authority, Lukhan Salakaia-Loto powering over before Vaiuta Latu sealed the result.
Standout performances from centres Josh Flook and Hunter Paisami, plus an energetic display from Tim Ryan, underpinned a clinical display that steadied the Reds’ season.
