Robinson breaks new ground with first Super G World Cup win

Queenstown skier Alice Robinson has delivered a landmark performance in St Moritz, capturing her first Super G World Cup win and securing New Zealand’s first-ever podium in the discipline.

The 24-year-old, fresh off consecutive Giant Slalom victories, carried her technical precision into the faster Super G format, attacking the Corviglia course at speeds exceeding 100km/h to post a time that withstood intense pressure from the rest of the field, including American icon Lindsey Vonn.

Robinson said treating the race like a Giant Slalom and executing a clear plan proved decisive, as she blended downhill experience with her GS strengths to hold off France’s Romane Miradoli and Italy’s Sofia Goggia.

The victory is Robinson’s seventh career World Cup win and her 21st podium overall, marking a significant expansion of her success beyond Giant Slalom.
