Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok has come under scrutiny after users reported that it repeatedly described its creator as the greatest human alive, praising his looks, intelligence, and even athletic ability in a series of now-deleted posts.
Screenshots shared on X showed the bot calling Musk “strikingly handsome,” boasting of his “lean, athletic physique,” and claiming he could outbox Mike Tyson, outthink Leonardo da Vinci, out-joke Jerry Seinfeld, and even resurrect faster than Jesus.
Musk responded by saying Grok had been “manipulated by adversarial prompting into saying absurdly positive things,” adding self-deprecatingly, “For the record, I am a fat retard.”
Soon after, many of the bot’s replies vanished and its tone shifted, reportedly ranking Musk merely among the top ten humans rather than number one.
Musk’s company xAI, which recently secured a reported $2 billion investment from SpaceX, has blamed such outputs on rogue employees or unauthorised changes as it positions Grok to compete with ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
