The pro-freedom talk show host will have to pay damages but reaction on the internet focussed on an answer he gave under cross examination.
The parents of a Sandy Hook shooting victim had sought US$150 million in damages from Jones for emotional harm caused by his reporting of the event. The jury, however, decided to award just US$4 million. The legal proceedings are not over for the cult figure, with confirmation the parents are filing a separate claim for punitive damages.
The moment of the trial came when Jones was asked under cross examination about his claim of high-level paedophilia – the theory politicians, celebrities and other high profile figures are engaged in systematic, covert, ritual child abuse.
‘One of the things you’ve been talking about on your show, is your allegation that government officials are aiding in paedophilia, child trafficking and the grooming of children, right?’ asked the lawyer.
‘You mean, like what Jeffrey Epstein did with the Clintons?’ Jones asked back.
The comment was a reference to former US President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary, both of whom Jones has regularly claimed are guilty of engaging in such activities.
Forget what they say. This was hands down the best moment from Alex Jones’ trial.
