Oxford Union president-elect condemned for comments on Charlie Kirk assassination

Oxford Union president-elect George Abaraonye has faced backlash after leaked messages appeared to show him celebrating the shooting of US conservative activist Charlie Kirk, with posts including “Charlie Kirk got shot, let’s f****** go.”

A separate message, believed to be from his Instagram account, read: 2Charlie Kirk got shot loool” – an elongated version of the “laugh out loud” acronym.

While Baroness Valerie Amos, Master of University College, described the remarks as abhorrent, she confirmed they did not breach free speech or college policies, meaning no disciplinary action would follow.

The Oxford Union condemned Abaraonye’s words, stressing they do not reflect its leadership, while other Oxford figures said violence should never be celebrated, framing Kirk’s killing as both a crime and an attack on free speech.

    • Like these ones?;

      Kirk advocated for an “American way of life” based on what he called “Christendom.” He consistently framed his vision for the US using deeply Islamophobic language, such as saying he didn’t want his children living in the US to hear the Muslim call to prayer.

      “The spiritual battle is coming to the West and the enemies are woke-ism or Marxism combining with Islamism to go after what we call the American way of life,” Kirk said.

      The values of no freedom of religion in the US?

      • Argue it any way you like, tolerance to hostile and incompatible people has seen the decline of many fine countries.

        Freedom of religion is a farce. Go practice your religion in a country that mirrors that religion. Christianity is the basis upon most “western” cultures are based. Our tolerance for others and their bat Sh1t crazy practices has got us where we are today.

        Ypu dont come to a foreign country and demand everyone kowtow to YOUR ways.

        These things have been done before……when in Rome, do as the Roman’s do – have you never heard of that?

      • Quiet the little idealist aren’t we Ziggaz. Have a look at race related crime stats for the UK and other nations, they speak for themselves. I’ll add many Asian nations, have constitutions where their people remaining the majority is hard coded into the constitution, such as Singapore. China also keeps out those whose ideas/culture are incompatible with their society. Its a small thing called “common sense” because no one rational wants a society that is divided and at war with itself.

  1. Taking down institutions by any means necessary? Isn’t that subversion? Yes it is. He must step away and honestly be forbid from holding a position from this university. He couldn’t even be bothered wearing a suit.

    Hey he’s free to say whatever he wants, but not while holding such a role and having stated his true intentions.
