Victoria’s Director of Public Prosecutions has lodged an appeal against the sentence given to convicted triple-murderer Erin Patterson, arguing it was “manifestly inadequate.”
Patterson was sentenced to life imprisonment with a 33-year non-parole period for killing relatives Don and Gail Patterson and Heather Wilkinson with toxic mushrooms during a 2023 lunch at her Leongatha home.
She was also convicted of attempting to murder Ian Wilkinson, who survived after weeks in hospital.
The appeal comes after Patterson’s legal team announced plans to challenge her conviction, though details of that appeal are yet to be filed.
