Liz Gunn and Jonathan Clark appeared in court today facing charges relating to an incident at Auckland Airport in February last year.
At their last court appearance in August, the police were ordered to provide copies of CCTV footage of the incident to Gunn and Clark, and their lawyers.
According to a report from Counterspin outside the Manukau District Court after the hearing, police have ‘not been forthcoming with the entire coverage, providing only an angle that is obscured by a column.’
‘The presiding judge has ordered the police to provide the requested footage or risk the case being dismissed,’ reported Counterspin.
Speaking outside the court Gunn said the police were dragging their heels, being nearly a year on since the incident and they still haven’t provided the footage.
‘It’s really wrong for a side that has all the access to the footage, and in their documentation they refer to the footage, and the defence don’t have the same footage. So we can’t prepare our case, and yet the judge went ahead anyway and decided to set down a hearing in May (May the 7th)…
‘The one concession he made [ie. the judge] today… if the police don’t produce that evidence within 21 days of today then our lawyer can apply to have the case dismissed.’
