Boston Celtics win record 18th NBA Championship

The Boston Celtics clinched their record 18th NBA championship by defeating the Dallas Mavericks 106-88, securing a 4-1 series victory in the NBA Finals.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with a stellar 31-point performance in front of their home fans at TD Garden, marking the team’s first championship win in 16 years and surpassing the Los Angeles Lakers’ 17 titles. The Celtics’ strong start, leading 67-46 at halftime, and solid defense against Dallas stars Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, who were restricted to just 14 points in the first quarter, proved decisive.

Despite Dallas’ efforts to rally in the third quarter, the Celtics maintained control, carrying a 19-point lead into the final quarter. Jaylen Brown, who was awarded the Finals MVP trophy named after Celtics legend Bill Russell, contributed significantly with his defensive prowess against Doncic and consistent scoring throughout the series. Brown averaged 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in the Finals.
