Following pardons issued by President Donald Trump, Stewart Rhodes, founder of the Oath Keepers, and Enrique Tarrio, former head of the Proud Boys, have announced plans to regroup their organisations.
Rhodes expressed gratitude for the pardon and maintained that his actions during the January 6, 2021, Capitol event were within his rights, emphasising a return to the group’s original mission of advocating constitutional adherence by law enforcement.
Tarrio, similarly reinvigorated, stated his commitment to rejoining his group and pursuing accountability for those he alleges wronged them. Both leaders denied direct involvement in violence and criticised the fairness of their trials.
Both groups now aim to rebuild their ranks, with discussions among members focusing on future advocacy efforts.
