Backlash as U.K court overturns decision to remove illegal migrants from hotel

The U.K. Court of Appeal has overturned a ruling to remove 138 asylum seekers housed at the Bell Hotel in Epping, with judges finding the earlier decision “seriously flawed in principle.”

Reform UK councillor Jaymey McIvor reacted angrily, insisting the Home Office should “empty this hotel immediately,” citing concerns for the safety of women and children at the nearby school.

He accused the Government of ignoring local fears and backed calls for Britain to leave the European Court of Human Rights, which he claimed was being “used against the people of Epping.” The case comes as more than a dozen councils prepare fresh legal action over the use of hotels to house asylum seekers.
