Former British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight champion Joe Bugner has died at his care home in Brisbane, aged 74.
Born in Hungary before settling in the UK, Bugner became a top-10 heavyweight of the 1970s, renowned for his resilience and technical skill.
He fought legends Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier in consecutive bouts in 1973, later facing Ali again for the world title in 1975, and also shared the ring with Henry Cooper, Earnie Shavers and Frank Bruno.
Over an 83-fight career spanning four decades, Bugner claimed notable titles in Britain, Europe and Australia, and even won the WBF heavyweight crown in 1998 at 48. Outside the ring, he appeared in films and TV, including Street Fighter, Cinderella Man, and I’m a Celebrity.
