COP30 ends without ‘fossil fuel phase-out deal’

COP30 news

The COP30 climate summit in Belém, Brazil ended in failure after oil-producing nations successfully resisted calls from more than 80 countries, including the UK and EU, to commit to a faster phase-out of fossil fuels.

The final agreement, the Mutirão, avoids any direct reference to oil, gas, or coal, instead urging countries only to “voluntarily” accelerate reductions.

Tensions ran high as Colombia condemned the presidency for blocking objections, while the absence of a US delegation—following President Trump’s withdrawal from global climate commitments—left negotiations without a key counterweight to negotiations.

The conference took place amid chaotic conditions with protests, and venue disruptions, as globalist climate cultists fear plans to “limit warming to 1.5C” have faltered.
