New UK political party Restore Britain launched as membership reaches 50,000

Restore Britain

British MP Rupert Lowe has announced the launch of a new political party, Restore Britain, positioning it as a direct challenge to what he described as a failing political establishment and a governing culture resistant to meaningful reform.

Within 24 hours of the announcement 50,000 members had signed up.

In a public statement on the party’s website Lowe said his decision followed months of reflection since being elected to Parliament in 2024 to represent Great Yarmouth, arguing he had exhausted traditional parliamentary mechanisms such as questions, committees and motions without achieving the scale of change he believes Britain needs.

A key influence on his decision, Lowe said, was a crowdfunded independent inquiry he organised into grooming gangs. He said testimony gathered during hearings exposed systemic failures across multiple institutions, including alleged instances where warnings were ignored to avoid controversy or reputational risk. Lowe described the inquiry as “the most sobering experience” of his public life and said it reinforced his belief that the UK’s political and administrative systems are structurally incapable of self-reform.

Restore Britain is being pitched as a national party designed to field candidates from outside the traditional political class, with Lowe saying the movement would work alongside locally focused political groups. He confirmed that Great Yarmouth First would act as a pilot local partner and said he intends to stand again in the constituency at the next general election. Lowe also claimed early polling suggests support approaching 10 percent prior to the party’s formal launch.

Policy positions outlined at launch included a pledge to dramatically reduce both legal and illegal immigration, including proposals for rapid detention and removal of illegal entrants and major restrictions on visa routes. Lowe also proposed sweeping welfare reforms focused on work participation requirements, tax cuts aimed at small businesses and enterprise, and deregulation designed to stimulate domestic industry, farming and energy production.

The party platform also emphasises national identity and cultural policy, including support for Britain’s Christian heritage, stricter limits on religious legal frameworks, and proposals to ban certain religious practices and garments. Lowe framed the agenda as part of what he called a “national restoration programme,” arguing Britain faces both economic and cultural decline without radical structural change.

Restore Britain now faces the challenge of converting early interest into organisational infrastructure, including candidate selection, local branch formation and fundraising ahead of the next election cycle. Political analysts note that while new parties can gain traction during periods of public dissatisfaction, translating support into parliamentary representation remains difficult under the UK’s electoral system.

Lowe said further details on membership, candidate selection and local organising would be released in the coming months as the party prepares to formally contest national elections.

  1. Probably a better bet than Farage’s Reform Party
Which is just more of the same repackaged
Not sure what they have got to work with though
The UK is in a very dilapidated rundown downtrodden state
In an advanced stage of decline and de industrialization
There is plenty of pain and very hard tough decisions coming up
And who are people going to vote for in NZ?
Labour in an alliance with fringe benefits afforded of the Greens and TPM?
Out of the frying pan into the fire

  2. Now, IF the New Zealand Loyal Party and the New Zealand Outdoors & Freedom Party could merge, and also include FreeNZ, then maybe the merging of these political parties could become THE RESTORE NEW ZEALAND PARTY…!
Time is growing short if such were to happen, and talks among the minor parties need to start ASAP while laying aside the individual egos for the betterment of New Zealand.

  3. I do wonder if that place has fallen too far to be fixed with new political parties. A big problem is a lot of these so called migrants now have voting rights and wont vote against their own self interest. I’d say a revolution will turn up sooner or later. Probably later and probably triggered by something no one had anticipated.

  4. Recent coverage shows that at least eight sitting or former Conservative MPs have defected to Nigel Farage’s Reform UK, along with a larger group of former MPs and local councillors.
Reform UK now has eight MPs, all of whom were previously Conservatives.
High‑profile defectors include Suella Braverman, Robert Jenrick, Andrew Rosindell, Danny Kruger, and Lee Anderson, among others.
In addition to the sitting MPs, 22 former Conservative MPs have also switched allegiance to Reform UK.
Several Conservative councillors have also crossed over, such as Jennie Bone.
So what is happening is Nigel Farage is fast becoming to resemble the very entity that he suggests he is so vigorously opposed to.
No doubt with the ranks to be further bolstered in the coming future.

  5. My take is this is an attempt to take away as many votes as possible from Farage…it’s the mainstream media that says Farage is no different… I say he is, he is becoming a real threat. SO…just like here in NZ loads of little parties spring up all over the place and SPLATTER AND DESTROY ANY REAL CHANCE OF CHANGE FROM THE 2 MAJOR PARTIES… the Freedom parties did this last time round so this time round I am voting NZ First because… none of the others will get anywhere until the egos are set aside and they create a single party with an arrow aimed at the very heart of the UNI Party… until then, nothing changes…

  6. A vote for NZ FIRST is the only conservative viewpoint. May be a risk but it beats Labour and National who read from the same hymn book.
