US Vice President J.D. Vance has suggested that aliens could be “demons” and pledged to examine classified government files on unidentified flying objects.
Speaking in an interview with podcaster Benny Johnson, Vance said he remains deeply interested in the issue and intends to use his access to high-level intelligence to investigate further. “I’ve got three years at the very tippy top of the classification. I’m going to get to the bottom of it,” he said, adding that he had previously considered visiting Area 51 but had been unable to arrange the trip.
During the interview, Vance said, “I don’t think they’re aliens. I think they’re demons,” describing the idea as rooted in a Christian view of “celestial beings who fly around who do weird things to people.” His remarks come amid renewed attention on UFO disclosures following an order by Donald Trump directing federal agencies to begin identifying and releasing related files, citing strong public interest. Trump later accused Barack Obama of improperly revealing classified information after comments suggesting alien life could be real.
Interest in unidentified aerial phenomena has increased in recent years, with the Pentagon and its All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office continuing to investigate sightings. In 2024, the Pentagon said it had found no evidence linking such phenomena to extraterrestrial technology, attributing many cases to objects such as weather balloons, surveillance aircraft, and satellites.
