Father and mistress executed in China for murdering his kids

In a tragic and shocking case from Chongqing, southwest China, a couple was executed for the murder of the man’s two young children, who were thrown from the 15th floor of a residential tower.

The father, Zhang Bo, killed his daughter Zhang Ruixue, aged 2, and son Zhang Yangrui, aged 1, following his girlfriend Ye Chengchen’s insistence. Ye viewed the children as obstacles to their future marriage and life together. Zhang, who had been having an affair with Ye, had earlier lied to her about his marital status and children.

The court revealed that Zhang wanted to marry Ye, but she considered his children a burden. In November 2020 he did the heinous act and subsequently faked distress in front of the building to convince bystanders the children had fallen due to an accident – but his actions were later exposed as a facade by prosecutors.

Zhang initially claimed he was asleep during the incident and was alerted by the noise from people who discovered the children’s bodies.

But the children’s mother, Chen Meilin, told the police that Zhang had taken the children under the guise of shared custody arrangements on the day of the murder. She claimed Ye slit her wrists during a video call with Zhang, prompting him in a panic to throw the children off the balcony.

Local media reported Zhang and Ye’s admission of plotting the murder of the children to start a new family together.

The couple was found guilty of conspiring to kill the children and murder. They were executed on Wednesday (local time).
