21-year-old Jayden Meyer, previously convicted of raping four teens and sexually violating a fifth, was been found guilty of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in June 2021, just hours after being bailed for earlier offenses.
The assault occurred at his father’s home, breaching a bail condition prohibiting unsupervised contact with females under 16.
Despite Meyer’s defense claiming the encounter was consensual and the victim’s accusation stemmed from embarrassment, the Crown highlighted the victim’s immediate distress, self-harm, and confiding in a friend shortly after the incident.
The Tauranga District Court jury delivered a majority guilty verdict.
