Broadcasting complaints filed after Destiny Church whistleblower’s face shown on 1News

TVNZ - BSA news

The Broadcasting Standards Authority (BSA) has received complaints after state-funded legacy media outlet TVNZ aired a 1News segment where the face of a Destiny Church whistleblower, who had requested anonymity, was reportedly too visible.

The woman, under a protection order after fleeing alleged abuse, appeared in John Campbell’s investigation Under His Command.

Following viewer concerns about her visibility, TVNZ removed the story from the digital version of the 1News at Six bulletin “out of an abundance of caution,” although the full series remains available on TVNZ+.

TVNZ has declined to comment further, and the BSA says it will not discuss the complaints until a formal decision is made.
