Commercial fishing vessel runs aground in Hauraki Gulf

Authorities respond as tug boats dispatched for recovery efforts.

Early this morning authorities were alerted to a commercial fishing vessel running aground at The Noises in the Hauraki Gulf.

Police received notification around 5:35 am. No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident, according to a report in legacy media.

The Police Eagle helicopter was deployed to the scene to assess the situation. Currently, efforts are underway to recover the vessel, with a pair of tug boats en route to assist in the operation.

According to a spokesperson from Auckland Transport, communication with the Harbourmaster has been established.. The safety of the 27 crew members on board the vessel has been confirmed, and plans are in motion for their removal. The tug boats are expected to commence the recovery operation around 1:30 pm today, to time with the high tide.
