A deputy principal dismissed over alleged misuse of school funds has been temporarily reinstated after the Employment Relations Authority found significant procedural shortcomings in the school board’s handling of her case.
The woman was fired following complaints that she used camp funds to cover costs for family members volunteering on a Year 8 Wellington trip, but argued she had a broad mandate, had personally paid other expenses, and mistakenly believed the accounts balanced out.
The Authority ruled it was unlikely the board followed a fair process, citing the absence of a clear funds policy, conflicts of interest, inadequate investigation practices, and failures to properly document proceedings.
While acknowledging residual concerns about transparency, the Authority ordered her reinstatement pending a full investigation and a separate ruling on her personal grievance, finding reinstatement both practicable and reasonable despite strained relationships.

Gives new meaning to the term ‘family first’,…but the commentaries relating to the female travel agent in AKL reflect thsi repository of narcissistic ‘I am owed everything at everyone’s expense’ via the Dunning Kruger Effect certainly seems to be a social, business and financial pattern model here..!

I wonder if either this woman or the school in question has an actual name? Seems weird to me that an anonymous tougher didn’t fleece a nameless school to shout her family a free trip. At any event, they must have been pretty dumb to want to go to Wellington, the anus of NZ.
