Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump will co-chair an international summit in Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday, bringing together leaders from more than 20 countries to discuss ending Israel’s war on Gaza and establishing long-term regional stability.
The meeting, confirmed by the Egyptian presidency, will be attended by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and several European leaders including France’s Emmanuel Macron and Italy’s Giorgia Meloni. It remains unclear whether Israeli or Hamas representatives will participate.
The summit comes as Israel begins partial troop withdrawals under the first phase of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire, which includes the release of Israeli captives and Palestinian detainees.
In Gaza, thousands of displaced Palestinians have begun returning to their devastated homes as the ceasefire continues to hold.
Local authorities report more than 5,000 recovery and relief operations since the truce began, including body recovery, rubble clearance, and restoration of essential services. Aid agencies such as the World Food Programme and UNICEF are preparing to resume large-scale humanitarian deliveries pending the reopening of crossings into Gaza, where 85 percent of Khan Younis has been destroyed.
The humanitarian situation remains dire amid ongoing fuel shortages and infrastructure damage, while the first exchange of captives and prisoners is expected to take place on Monday under international supervision.
Hamas has not been disarmed as part of the peace agreement.
Which element appears crucial to whether in fact this peace agreement holds overall or is lost.
The issue remains unresolved and highly contested.
As of October 2025, the disarmament of Hamas is one of the most contentious and unresolved aspects of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
While the first phase of the peace deal—ratified by Israel on October 10—includes a halt to fighting, hostage exchanges, and humanitarian aid, Hamas’s disarmament is deferred to a later phase.
Publicly, Hamas has rejected full disarmament, calling the proposed weapons handover “out of the question and not negotiable”.
Privately, some Hamas officials have expressed openness to decommissioning certain offensive weapons, such as short- and long-range missiles, but not their entire arsenal.
Israelies insist that complete disarmament of Hamas is essential for a permanent end to the war.
It also demands that Hamas relinquish governance of Gaza and dissolve as an organization, which Hamas has not agreed to.
The U.S. peace plan offers amnesty to Hamas members who decommission weapons and proposes safe passage out of Gaza for them.
No binding disarmament agreement has been reached.
Hamas remains armed, and the future of its weapons and political role in Gaza will be central to the next phase of negotiations.
Who in their right mind would disarm themselves when being attacked by armed neighbours?
Counting down to the next Zio/Mossad false flag in 3 2 1…
Yes its engineered to not succeed
And was from the outset
Because the Jews do not want peace and never did
They have an agenda ‘the Greater Israel’
From the river to the sea
And in bowing to US pressure in light of failing public opinion and global condemnation
With aspirations to a middle east riviera luxury condominiums and stolen Gaza gas reserves
So these aspirations are all suddenly gone put on the back burner and forgotten?
The whole peace construct was deliberately and intentionally fashioned to hinge on the premise of Hamas being disarmed – to fail
Which isn’t going to happen any time soon or at all
Trump will greet Israel hostages ‘in person’ after Hamas releases them from Gaza, Vance says
https://www.cnbc.com/2025/10/12/trump-israel-hostages-hamas-vance.html
So what if there weren’t any remaining Israeli hostages alive?
Well now there will be legitimized – some sort of grift
Freed hostages are essential for the propaganda fake narrative albeit if only crisis actors to serve the purpose
A good opportunity for Trump to bask in the limelight and grab the glory
The Nobel Peace prize intended to have been his and meant to be the icing on his crowning achievement
So if the hostages have all been released that just leaves Hamas as a sticking point
