Education Minister Erica Stanford says parents will soon receive clearer and more practical information about school performance through a major redesign of reports issued by Education Review Office.
From Term 2, the updated reports will place stronger emphasis on student achievement, progress and engagement, with clearer measurements, visual summaries and nearly double the number of topics covered compared with previous formats.
The new reporting system is intended to make school strengths and areas needing improvement easier for parents and school boards to understand, while also recognising successful outcomes and identifying priorities for improvement.
The redesigned reports were developed following consultation with schools and parent focus groups, and form part of the Government’s wider education programme, which includes twice-yearly reading, writing and maths assessments for Years 3 to 8, the Phonics Check, a Year 2 maths check, and updated student reporting measures.

If only someone had invented some sort of national standards or something.
If only there was a simplified way to grade a student’s academic achievement on an alphabetical range from A-F in order to identify which key areas they struggle with.
If only our schools taught subjects like science, mathematics, history and civics instead of watered down chapters of the communist manifesto.
