Whanganui High School teacher Jason Shepherd has been named as the offender who groomed two students over four years.
He was sentenced to 10½ months of home detention in October 2024 after pleading guilty to grooming for sexual conduct with a young person and meeting following grooming.
The victims were 12 and 13 years old when they first met Shepherd.
Detective Sergeant Carey Priest praised their bravery in coming forward, emphasising the police’s commitment to supporting victims and holding offenders accountable.
