Train incident – Kapiti
Police are now in a position to confirm a person has died after being struck by a passenger train in Kapiti on Friday morning 2 September.
Emergency services responded to the incident near MacKay’s Crossing at Whareroa Road, Paekakariki just before 10am.
Fatal crash, Aka Aka
One person has died following a crash near the intersection of Masters Road and Goodwin Road in Aka Aka Friday evening.
The crash, involving two cars, was reported to emergency services at 4.40pm.
One of the vehicles became submerged in the stream on the side of the road and initially trapped one of the occupants.
They were extracted from the vehicle in a critical condition and passed away at the scene.
Two other people were seriously injured and have been transported to hospital.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are under way.
One person in custody following incident in Counties Manukau
Police have one person in custody following an incident at a property in Counties Manukau yesterday morning 3 September.
Police were called to the address on Lakewood Court at around 4:30am.
On arrival, a woman was located deceased at the scene.
Another woman was located at the address and taken into custody.
There will was a Police presence in the area yesterday, including cordons around the Lakewood Court property, where a scene examination is expected to continue.
‘While we are in the early stages of our enquiries we want to reassure the community we do not believe there to be an ongoing risk to the public,’ said Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers.
‘Further information will be provided when available.’
Murder charge in relation to Counties Manukau death
Police have charged a 36-year-old woman with murder in relation to a death in Counties Manukau earlier Saturday morning.
Police were called to an address on Lakewood Court at around 4.30am.
On arrival, a woman was located deceased at the scene.
Another woman at the address was taken into custody.
That woman has been charged with murder and will appear in Manukau District Court on Monday 5 September.
Police are still keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the Lakewood Court area overnight and may have heard or seen something which could assist our enquiries.

Man arrested in relation to Westmere incident
Police have this afternoon arrested a man believed to have been involved in an incident in Westmere early this morning.
At around 5.45am yesterday, Police were made aware of an altercation between the occupants of two vehicles on William Denny Avenue in Westmere.
One of the occupants was reported to have been in possession of a firearm.
Police observed a vehicle of interest being driven on the Southern Motorway at around 2.30pm today.
The vehicle was monitored by Eagle until it came to a stop in Khyber Pass Road at 2.50pm.
The male driver and female passenger were taken into custody.
A replica firearm was located in the vehicle.
Enquiries into the incident in Westmere this morning are ongoing and no charges have been laid at this stage.
