Principal rejects claim mouldy school lunches were leftovers from previous week

Haeata Community Campus principal Peggy Burrows is disputing NZ Food Safety’s (NZFS) suggestion that rancid school lunches served on Monday were leftover meals delivered the previous Thursday and mistakenly re-served without refrigeration.

NZFS believes an unreturned heated food container caused the mix-up, a view supported by Compass Group, which says one Cambro box was left at the school.

Burrows insists this is “absolutely untrue,” citing security footage showing all eight containers brought in on Thursday were taken away the same day and arguing the school cannot heat food, meaning cold leftovers could not have been served. She says nine fresh containers were delivered and collected on Monday.

Burrows called the claims disingenuous, while Associate Education Minister David Seymour accused the principal of wrongly blaming Compass. Burrows said Seymour’s comments were upsetting and that the incident has undermined trust among families.

  1. If this principal has this evidence, where’s the hard counter evidence to back the so called governments, position?

Suffice to say, wont be voting National or ACT, next election.

  2. ‘Principal rejects claim moldy school lunches were leftovers from previous week’
But nobody believes her but nobody can prove otherwise.

  3. Anyway, won’t (shouldn’t) happen again. The Principal will need to make sure food management system in-house is perfect.
    No freebies for staff either.
