Public submissions open on Treaty Principles Bill

Public submissions are now open for the Treaty Principles Bill, offering New Zealanders the opportunity to voice their views on a fundamental aspect of the nation’s future, ACT Leader David Seymour announced today.

“For nearly 50 years, unelected judges have interpreted what the Treaty of Waitangi’s ‘principles’ mean. That changes now,” Seymour said. “This is a chance for Kiwis to decide whether we are a ‘partnership’ between two groups with differing rights or a modern multi-ethnic democracy united by shared rights and responsibilities.”

Seymour said public engagement was important for shaping the Bill, particularly following today’s Hīkoi mō te Tiriti, which saw thousands marching to Parliament. “I hope those marching today will read the Bill and contribute meaningfully through the select committee process. I also encourage those who were unable to attend to make their voices heard through submissions,” he said.

Submissions to the Justice select committee close on January 7.

Police comment as Hikoi wraps up

Meanwhile, police commended the smooth running of the Hīkoi mō te Tiriti, which drew approximately 42,000 participants to Wellington’s Parliamentary precinct. Superintendent Corrie Parnell noted the cooperative and positive conduct of those involved.

“Today’s hīkoi was carried out safely and respectfully, moving through the city without major incidents,” Parnell said.

While ambulances attended to 20 medical incidents and one individual was arrested for disorderly behaviour and indecent assault, no significant issues were reported. Police also highlighted the risks of driver fatigue as participants began their journeys home and advised motorists to remain patient amid increased traffic.

The Hīkoi’s final event will be held at Waitangi Park at 7pm.

  1. No wonder people are leaving NZ by the droves…tired of all of this U.S.-styled activism modeled after the 1960’s Civil Rights Movement in the U.S. (Zionist-inspired, BTW) alongside BLM / ANTIFA!
The Globalists are trying to sow dysfunction, discord and suspicions in almost all nations now, using the Talmud as the playbook, with Noahide Law enacted to enforce the same!
For these reasons, I will stand my ground as a Pakeha, just as I did yesterday at an un-named government office, where the doors were locked, but yet Maori / Pac Islanders could still go in…! Also got some dirty looks for being there, as though the particular government office was for Maori / Pac Islanders only!
    Figure that one out!
Fed up with the ‘sense of entitlement’ that I pay for with my taxes.
Government can sure as hell fix this problem, or many more Pakeha will take their higher qualifications and earning potentials somewhere else, as they are doing now in record droves!!!

  2. Special race based privileges like income from natural resources, commercial fishing, higher medial care or anything else is apartheid.

  3. Someone needs to set out some good responses as a base. I believe there will be a concerted effort to undermine the bill by TPM getting a lot of submissions.

  4. Compare the way this lot were treated to the way the COVID era protesters were treated. Policing in New Zealand is politicised and unjust, as are the so called courts but then look at what people keep electing to office. Garbage in, garbage out (repeat).

  5. Freedom camp was peaceful too until P’lice attacked… I am maori who wants to stop the seperatism – Maori did not support their people during the lockdowns at debbie pakeha parker who didn’t get jabbed but pushed Maori to – so sick 🤬

    • I reckon part of the point of this fiasco was to de-legitimise real protest like the Freedom camp, as well as the genuine solidarity experienced by those in attendance there when it came to matters of real importance. Now everyone has been herded back into the politics-as-usual pen, and forgotten who the real enemy is (i.e. the state).

      • Both of you are 100% on the money. They are happy with status quo protests but anything that genuinely challenges what the corrupt states does, (which is the actual reason we have protests) is viciously silenced, by their dogs.

    • I assumed she got the jab as she registered to become an injector $$. What makes you think she didn’t get it herself?
Remember her hubby was attacked at a Jan clinic but that was hushed up.

  6. I’ve read the ‘Treaty of Waitangi’ many times

    There are no ‘principles’ mentioned.

The ‘principles’ were concocted in the 1970s by some self-serving lawyers plus some stupid corrupt judges.

    So that’s that.
