With the release today of the Arms Amendment Regulations enabling New Zealand’s first comprehensive digital Firearms Registry, licence holders can now see how the new Registry will work, and what information they will need to begin providing from 24 June 2023.

Te Tari Pūreke – Firearms Safety Authority Executive Director, Angela Brazier, says most firearms owners will have up to five years to record all the firearms and other relevant arms items in their possession into the new Registry.

However, in some circumstances, licence holders will need to provide information for the Registry in a shorter timeframe than five years.  For example, if they buy a firearm, that activity will require them to register that firearm as soon as is practicable, within 30 days; and register all remaining arms items in their possession within 30 days.

“The Registry will give licence holders more confidence when buying or selling firearms, as it will let them know if they are dealing with a current licence holder and if the firearm they are looking to buy has been reported stolen.” says Ms Brazier.

“There is no fee charged to register their firearms. The fastest and easiest way licence holders will be able to register when the new system activates on 24 June is through our website using the MyFirearms portal from our website homepage www.firearmssafetyauthority.govt.nz. (link is external)

“People who can’t or prefer not to use the internet will be able to provide information over the telephone, through our call centre.”

Ms Brazier says Te Tari Pūreke will from today be sharing detailed information to the licenced firearms community about the operation of the Registry, and what they need to know. An advertising campaign will also shortly begin.

The Firearms Registry is being developed and rolled out in stages. For firearms dealers this means from 24 June, 2023, they will be required to record transactions with individual firearms licence holder at the time of sale, using the online Dealer Transaction form on the Te Tari Pūreke website.

However, the requirement for dealers to register all stock in the dealer’s possession and provide transfer information will come later; and ammunition sellers will continue to record ammunition sales to licence holders in their record books.

“We will be working closely with dealers over the coming weeks so they know what they will need to do from 24 June 2023,” says Ms Brazier.

“The Firearms community have told us that the security and privacy of personal information going into the new Registry is important to them. I want them to know that great effort and investment is going into the Firearms Registry to ensure that people’s information is protected at every step. The design and build of the Registry meets or exceeds Government security and privacy controls.”

  1. First comes registration, then CONFISCATION as demonstrated in this country and other left-wing government nations. This is based on historical records…
After CONFISCATIONS based on the government knocking on your door and grabbing your gun as opposed to a ‘Buy-Back’ occurring, then expect more knocks on doors, mass tyranny, incarcerations, genocide and government-sponsored murder!!!
Germany…the Soviet Union…Communist China… and the numerous attempts to cancel the Second Amendment in the U.S. Bill of Rights in the U.S….ALL want the populations disarmed!
WE AS NEW ZEALANDERS UNDER THE UNITED NATIONS RIGHT TO SELF-PROTECTION BOTH AS A WHOLE NATION AND AS INDIVIDUAL CITIZENS ARE PROTECTED FROM SUCH INVASIVE CONFISCATION BEHAVIOURS BY THE GOVERNMENT AND POLICE UNDER THE U.N. TREATY, TITLED ‘THE RIGHT TO SELF DEFENCE, CHAPTER 7, ARTICLE 51’.
DEMAND THAT PARLIAMENT ABIDE BY THEIR AGREEMENT, AND OUR RIGHT TO SELF-PROTECTION!
Vote for the Outdoors & Freedom Party to stop this registration and in due course, the Globalist Plan to confiscate our firearms!
If guns were outlawed, only outlaws would have guns! And the Gangs have proven this correct, while law-abiding gun owners are treated as criminals in the making!!!
For us, we can always get ghost gun parts, 3D Printers, and the entire Parliament needs to be flushed for endangering the Security of New Zealand by removing firearms via a proposed illegal registry brought about by the former dictatoress, who now lives outside of the Commonwealth.
Every Kiwi Family should own a firearm and train with the same should we be called upon to fight off a foreign invader!
In addition, under the U.N. HUMAN RIGHTS TREATY PART 1, ITEM 1.1, it is noted that New Zealand agreed in 1978 to be LEGALLY BOUND by the ICCPR, Articles 12 and 17.
    Article 17 items 1 & 2 addresses the bound agreement the;
‘NO ONE SHALL BE SUBJECTED TO ARBITRARY OR UNLAWFUL INTERFERENCE WITH HIS PRIVACY, FAMILY, HOME, OR CORRESPONDENCE and ‘IN REFLECTION THE SCOPE OF ARTICLE 17 PROTECTS PRIVACY, AND PROHIBITS INTERFERENCE WITH THE INDIVIDUAL’S FAMILY AND HOME LIFE, WRITTEN AFFAIRS, PERSONAL IDENTITY AND STANDING.’
If you store your firearms in an approved safe AT HOME, then in legal theory NO GOVERNMENT AGENT, REPRESENTATIVE OR LAW ENFORCEMENT ENTITY CAN INTERFERE (ie ‘register a Firearm, or take a Firearm without a Court Order that does not / will not violate UN Treaty Agreements) WITH SAID PRIVATE PROPERTY, THAT BEING THE FIREARMS(S) ONE OWNS!

    • Spot on!
And thank you for pointing to U.N. HUMAN RIGHTS TREATY PART 1, ITEM 1.1, which I didn’t know about . It should be known to EVERY New Zealander. I have shared this on social media. And a print lies on the coffee table. Thank you.
In light of such international laws, the legality of those firearm by–laws is in doubt. As are many of the by-laws made under the uni-party system, pushed through without consultation and say from the WE THE PEOPLE.
Again, the govt. is pushing THEIR agenda with the powers they’ve given themselves to harass normal law-abiding hard-working Kiwis to abide by THEIR ideas of governance, which is increasingly dominance. And arrogance. They’ve forgotten that THEY ought to be public servants, yet THEY created THEM vs US.

      • Excellent…and thank for passing this on! Please send the same to the minor Political parties as well. We were hoping for a massive coalition of the same, but their egos, bickering and *fear of being arrested / audited by the PTB has them running for cover. (*my opin…)
Just got an e-mail from the cops regarding the ‘Registration Process’ which directly violates Articles 12 and 17, and invades the privacy of personal purchasing transactions, among other things…those being the Right to Self Defence.
This is why New Zealand needs to ratify and codify a proper Constitution and Bill of Rights that includes the absolute International Right to keep and bear arms when necessary.
I think that we’re all tired of being granted ‘privileges’ when under International Law these are fundamental Human and Civil Rights. After all, the bastards violated the Nuremburg Code, the Patient Rights Act and the Right to Refuse the terror weapon imposed upon us all by this same government minus the former PM who has run to the U.S. to escape her part in the genocidal holocaust via injecting 95% of the population with the un-tested mRNA bio-weapon ‘vaccine’, and came away millions of dollars richer for doing so.
The current PM, ‘Chippy’, (a typical Old Boy Masonic Network designated name…) played just as big a role in his part for pushing a known bio-weapon on the population as did Jabby; I wonder when he too will leave New Zealand as, after all, he was the ‘Health Minister’ at the time, and the ‘Covid Minister’ as well as the ‘Minister of Education’ that has shut-out thousands of Special Needs children from their human right to an education!
But, not to be outdone, the National Party went along with ALL of this, and when they were in ‘power’, there was $30 million for Special Needs Education. Not one cent was ever spent for that!!!
Notice that both major Political Parties and their kowtowing minor support Parties are now silent on this issue now that the ‘Registration’ has been passed into law, hoping that there will be no attention called to it, and the ‘Regulations’ put back on the House Floor to debate it’s illegality!

  2. Noting like controlling every aspect of peoples lives. The question is what are they afraid of? Do they think criminals or revolutionaries would sign up?
