A new report published by the research group CORRELATION claims that much of the ‘climate warming’ recorded in Canada over recent decades may be the result of a data issue rather than actual ‘climate change’.
The report, written by researcher Joseph Hickey, focuses on Environment Canada’s Adjusted and Homogenized Canadian Climate Data set, known as the AHCCD, which is widely used to calculate long-term temperature trends and is often relied on in international climate studies.
According to the report, the dataset contains a sudden step-like increase of about 1 degree Celsius around 1998 across many weather stations, which the author argues cannot be explained by climate factors alone.
Hickey says this single shift could account for nearly all of the warming calculated for many parts of Canada over the past 60 to 70 years.
The report also includes emails obtained through access to information requests that, according to the author, show Environment Canada dismissed concerns when the issue was raised.
The findings challenge the reliability of the AHCCD and argue that Canada’s reported warming may be largely driven by a ‘temperature measurement artifact’ rather than real-world ‘climate change’, though the conclusions have not yet been addressed publicly by Environment Canada.
