Ben and Claire Anderson, a British couple living in Wellington were found dead in a suspected murder-suicide at their Roseneath home late Monday night.
According to a report in state-funded media today, police conducted a welfare check at the Palliser Road property after a concerned family member raised the alarm, forcing entry and discovering the bodies.
Authorities confirmed they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident and are treating the case as a murder-suicide, pending a coroner’s report.
The couple had recently been living with their landlord and were described by a neighbour as kind and ideal neighbours.
Ben, a principal research scientist at BRANZ, had a background in energy research, while Claire, a former teacher, had recently relocated to New Zealand permanently.
The police are supporting the family and have contacted relatives both in New Zealand and abroad.
