Schwab’s WEF speech sparks backlash over ‘authoritarian agenda’

Klaus Schwab, head of the World Economic Forum (WEF), delivered his 2025 “Risk Report” at the annual Davos meeting, unveiling a vision critics have called authoritarian and dystopian.

Dr. Simon Goddek, a vocal critic of globalist policies, dissected Schwab’s speech in a tweet, branding it a “dystopian manifesto straight out of Orwell’s nightmares.”

Schwab’s call to address “misinformation and disinformation” was interpreted by Goddek as a push for censorship, targeting dissenting voices under the guise of combating dangerous narratives. Highlighting “increasing divisions within societies and countries,” Schwab stressed the need for unity, but critics argue this reflects a fear of public backlash against elite agendas.

His emphasis on the advent of the “Intelligent Age,” featuring AI, digital surveillance, and automation, drew accusations of promoting mass job losses and invasive monitoring to ensure compliance.

While Schwab framed these transitions as offering opportunities for a “new Renaissance,” critics argue this represents a future where unelected technocrats dictate lives under the pretext of progress. The WEF’s vision of “securing humanity” has sparked a broader debate, with opponents warning of creeping authoritarianism disguised as innovation and unity. Schwab’s Davos speech has reignited calls to challenge the unchecked influence of elite institutions shaping global policy.
