Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick was ordered out of Parliament for the rest of the week after refusing to withdraw and apologise for calling on six Government MPs “with a spine” to back a Green Party bill sanctioning Israel for alleged war crimes.
Speaker Gerry Brownlee ruled the remark “completely unacceptable” and warned she could return Wednesday if she apologises.
Swarbrick, who said she was “happily” leaving, defended her comments as mild compared to past exchanges in the debating chamber, criticising what she called a “ridiculous ruling”.
She said she was frustrated over Parliament’s inaction on Palestine, saying New Zealanders from all walks of life wanted their leaders to “get on with it” and stop the conflict.
Some people will never make the transition from child to adulthood.

It’s “completely unacceptable” that standing up for humanity gets you expelled, while staying silent on the Palestinian genocide being committed by Israel allows you to keep your seat, Mr Brownlee.
