Donald Trump has lashed out at media coverage of the war with Iran after the United States confirmed the loss of a military refuelling aircraft in Iraq, declaring critics would soon face consequences and insisting reports should not create the impression that Washington is losing.
“Watch what happens to these deranged scumbags today,” Trump wrote on Friday, adding that killing Iranian forces was an honour for him.
The reaction came after the United States Department of Defense confirmed a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker crashed following an incident involving another military fuel transport, adding to earlier losses that included three McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle jets in a friendly fire incident linked to Kuwait’s military.
As oil markets remained volatile above US$100 a barrel, the United States Department of the Treasury eased restrictions on Russian oil already loaded before March 12, allowing roughly 100 million barrels to move while Western leaders, including Ursula von der Leyen, warned against weakening sanctions pressure on Russia.
Meanwhile, Iranian media claimed pro-Tehran militias downed the tanker, Ali Khamenei vowed restitution against the US and Israel, oil infrastructure across the Gulf came under renewed attack, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation warned of a possible drone threat off the coast of California as fears of a false flag attack heightened online.
