US and Iran set for high-stakes talks in Oman

Senior American and Iranian officials are due to hold direct talks in Oman as diplomatic efforts intensify to reduce the risk of military conflict following rising regional tensions.

The meeting follows a US military build-up in the Middle East and international concern over Iran’s response to recent anti-government protests, which human rights groups report resulted in thousands of deaths and tens of thousands of arrests.

While Washington is pushing for Iran to freeze its nuclear programme, reduce enriched uranium stockpiles, and address missile development and regional militia support, Tehran insists discussions should focus solely on nuclear issues and is expected to seek sanctions relief.

Both sides have issued strong warnings in recent weeks, with the US signalling possible military action and Iran threatening retaliation against US and allied assets. The talks, facilitated by regional mediators, are seen as a potential pathway toward broader negotiations, though significant differences remain and uncertainty continues over whether common ground can be reached.

  1. The US keeps making impossible demands that it knows Iran will not agree to
Which parallels what is happening in Ukraine in prolonging the war
That they are sending Witkoff Gaza Real Estate negotiator to these talks signals the US is not serious and their outcome is a forgone conclusion
    Like with Gaza
Trump has boxed himself into a corner with His big mouth finally getting the better of Him with no place to go
Peace talk betrayals preceded the last attack on Iran resulting in the twelve day war and the Jews not Israel begging the US to give them an off ramp resultant in a fake attack with Iranian involvement on Iranian nuclear facilities
    Which supposedly obliterated such
    Now replaced with regime change
Trump is like a mad woman’s shit all over the place deliberately surrounded by Yes men to make Himself look good which it now transpires has backfired and now landed Himself in it
    Much to Our misfortune
All world leaders are puppets who come with strings attached who bow to their minions and donors
Who lobby such now coming full circle and the piper having to be payed and in facing the music

  2. This is just more propaganda from the media.

These talks are known to be a sham because (a) the US-military are not involved in these talks when they should be if these talks are genuine, and (b) Steven Witkoff is widely seen as a deception agent, not a negotiator.

What is really going on is an American retreat with an agreed plan for the dumb yanks to survive politically before this year’s midterm elections in the USA.

Reasons why Trump won’t risk war this year with Iran https://www.tehrantimes.com/news/523507/Trump-cannot-risk-war-with-Iran-John-Helmer-says

But next year (after the midterms) is a different story. Trump might threaten Iran again with war and/or start some other dirty tricks with Mossad / CIA.

  3. This is a diplomatic escape hatch given the Stump administration has talked itself into a corner….minor concessions will be made that are largely symbolic, Stump will declare victory and the beautiful flotilla will float off elsewhere….

Reminds me of the Roman emperor Gaius Caesar who had his troops collect shells, having declared war on the sea……

  4. The United States has just imposed a fresh round of sanctions on Iran, targeting entities tied to its oil trade immediately after the latest U.S.–Iran meeting in Oman.
These measures focus on disrupting Tehran’s revenue streams—particularly its so‑called “shadow fleet”—which Washington says funds destabilizing regional activities.
The US is duplicit and not to be trusted
Seemingly involved in peace talks while actively acting to sabotage the outcome of such which their outcome already pre positioned and having been decided on

  5. Iran should say to the US/Trump,

    “What are you yella?”

How long are you going to put up with crippling US sanctions? Might as well take the fight to them.

They only get away with it because other countries do not want to lose their USD inputs.
