The Australian Open has announced a record prize pool of NZD $130 million for this year’s tournament, marking a 16 percent increase and the largest payout in the event’s history.
Singles champions will earn NZD $4.83 million each, while early-round players also benefit, with first-round losers receiving NZD $175,000 and qualifying prize money rising by up to 16 percent.
Tennis Australia chief executive Craig Tiley said the increase reflects a push to make professional tennis more financially sustainable at all levels, as part of a broader NZD $157 million investment in the Summer of Tennis. The tournament will be held at Melbourne Park from 18 January to 1 February.
