The Hurricanes have won their tenth match in a row against the Highlanders, putting on a slick second-half masterclass to run out 50-7 visitors in Dunedin on Friday night.
Ahead 19-7 at halftime, the visitors punished the Highlanders’ discipline and misfiring lineout, scoring five tries in the second half to fire a massive warning shot to the rest of the Super Rugby Pacific competition.
Cam Roigard bagged two early tries as the Hurricanes’ scrum and pressure game took control, while a pinpoint Love kick set up Fehi Fineanganofo before the break. Despite improved scrum stability and strong field position, the hosts struggled to capitalise, and once the Hurricanes regained possession in the second half, they struck immediately through Devan Flanders.
Further tries to Fineanganofo, who completed a hat-trick, Bailyn Sullivan and Peter Lakai capped a dominant performance, as the Highlanders failed to convert opportunities and were undone by discipline and lineout issues.
