Despite missing two earlier attempts, Burton capitalised on his opportunity from 35 metres out, sealing the Bulldogs’ sixth consecutive home win and propelling them to fifth place on the ladder.
The Bulldogs started strong with an early try by Viliame Kikau and extended their lead with Reed Mahoney’s effort from dummy half, establishing a commanding 12-0 advantage.
But the Sharks clawed back into the game before halftime, narrowing the gap to 12-6 with Briton Nikora’s try.
In the second half, the Sharks surged ahead with Trindall and Mulitalo’s tries, taking a 14-12 lead.
