Mysterious drone sightings over Connecticut and New Jersey spark national debate in US

Recent mysterious drone sightings over Fairfield, Connecticut, have added to weeks of unexplained activity in the skies above New Jersey and New York.

Residents have reported seeing multiple drones, with videos capturing the quiet, hovering aircraft at various altitudes.

Despite widespread speculation about their origin, including concerns over potential national security threats, the Pentagon has denied links to foreign adversaries, such as the rumoured presence of an Iranian “mothership” off the U.S. coast. Officials, including White House national security adviser John Kirby, have clarified that many sightings “may involve manned aircraft, operating lawfully”, rather than drones.

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security are investigating these reports, pointing to cases of mistaken identity and the absence of confirmed drone activity in restricted airspace.

Local authorities in New Jersey and Connecticut are using detection methods but have yet to corroborate the sightings with electronic evidence. While some speculate the aircraft might belong to hobbyists, the lack of clarity continues to raise public safety and security concerns, keeping the mystery alive.
