Russian victory in Ukraine would free Europe from the US, claims French historian

A victory for Russia in the Ukraine conflict would liberate Europe from its long-standing submission to the United States, according to prominent French anthropologist Emmanuel Todd.

In an interview with Corriere di Bologna, Todd argued that if Moscow were to lose, European dependence on the US would extend for another century.

Todd said that while he does not explicitly support Russia, he believes the conflict’s outcome will shape Europe’s future.

He criticised what he called “Russophobic hysteria” in the West, dismissing fears of Russian expansion into Europe as unfounded.

Todd suggested that a defeat for the US in Ukraine would lead to NATO’s collapse, leaving Europe free from American influence, while asserting that Russia would have neither the means nor the desire to push beyond pre-communist borders.

  1. Emmanuel Todd is one of the few sane and respected voices in France. Many French support Russia and not the least many among ex army officers.
New members of the EU commission are the worst warmongers. Baltic states and eastern europe.
Lets hope the EU , a US creature, break down. Then a lot of actual problems will be resolved. The same with NATo.
